Design Problem
Detached additional dwelling units (DADUs) are uncommon, yet have the potential to alleviate rising housing costs. Located in Ballard in Seattle, DADU Noir is intended to illustrate the benefits of DADUs.

Solution
DADU Noir embodies Seattle’s glamorous gloom with a terracotta rain screen and a CMU trombe wall. Its union of traditional form and modern aesthetic mirrors Ballard’s evolution from family neighborhood to hipster hotspot. It is the encapsulation of what it means to be a Seattleite: a neighborly soul obscured by a reserved exterior, love for the outdoors, and respect for tradition with an eye toward innovation.
In this multi-disciplinary group project, I was the sole interior designer, primary researcher, and created all personas and storyboards. All renderings and diagrams shown are my own.
